Life devoted to religion worse than devote their lives to addiction?

Substance abuse in general is only for any damage to life – The addict. But religion does not hurt just to religion, but the addict to almost all people in contact with them throughout their lives, especially their children, right? Thus, in most cases would be better for humanity if people live their religious life in a haze of drug origin rather than to screw the minds of their children, the spread ridicule their beliefs to others, and vote for the corrupt politicians who use religion to gain power, right?

If addiction is the case, religion would probably be preferable.
