Celebrity hypnotist to cure addiction?

I remember seeing a documentary about addiction for a couple of years. I do remember the name the show was …. was something like 24 hours to deadline. They kept a lot of people with addictions dependence of different painkillers, cigarettes, food, etc. Then there was the famous Boston hypnotic (If I remember correctly) who healed their addiction. Is there anyone who has heard of this famous hypnotist?
