What is wrongful employment termination? Is it legal? How is it seen as such?

When coming home from an auto accident, I stopped to pick op my kids in a company car and shortly after was rear-ended by another vehicle. Went to the hospital and put on release frrom the doctor and given physical therapy. After making the employer aware of my rehabilitation, I then was fired and removed from my inurance policy while under the supervision of my doctor. What can be done about this?

If your employer stipulated that you were not allowed to have unauthorized passengers in the company car , i.e. your children, that is most likely the cause for your termination. Check your employment contract carefully. If you feel you were wrongfully terminated, let your employer know. I wouldn’t advise a lawsuit unless you have the funds to sustain it, as it could drag on for years. Unfortunately, I have known of several employers who have let employees go for no better reason than fear of making the group health policy cost more.
