Asbestos while 13 weeks pregnant?
My husband and I are interested in purchasing a very old abandoned house to rehab. The house is stable, but paint is chipping and there is broken floor tiles throughout the house, meaning there is most likely absestos in the air.
We would like to go through a walkthrough. If I use a respirator with the correct filters, could the baby still be at risk? If I do breath in asbestos, what is the danger to the fetus?
i have asbestos siding on my house…we are currently pulling it off…we had some one come out and test it and said that just by us pulling it off wont cause harm… but if we start cutting it up or sanding it… it will cause us to breath in the dust and then the harm will come. so i cant really see how you just doing a walk through would cause harm…just because its chipping or broken doesnt mean its in the air.
same with lead my house is full of lead paint and tin ceilings… unless you plan on eating the paint chips you will be fine…
( my house is very old we still have horse hair plaster rather then dry wall)
