I know that your newsletter is called "Coffee Cup" but wondered what the meaning of the cup is?
When initiated the Valley of Hope (1967 in Norton, KS) were underfunded and could not afford disposable coffee cups. Patients receive a porcelain coffee cup and put your name on it. When they have finished their treatment cup hanging on the wall for I would be there when they came to visit. This has now changed into a tradition in which patients decorate their cups with ideas or things important to them. They hang the cup in the wall at the end of treatment. If you stay sober or household of 1 year you can go back and get your cup back to keep in memory processing. And also I wish his brother knows to keep the cup 2 years, then recycle. So if you want to return, should do so between the 1st and 2nd anniversary of his cup hanging up. Family members also can decorate and hang a dish, as are support for cut.
